Our November meeting brought together business owners, community leaders and non-profit partners for a full morning of updates, announcements and upcoming opportunities. Thanks to all who joined in—your participation keeps our community moving forward.


Chamber & Community Announcements

  • New Board of Directors are being elected; please consider stepping up or nominating someone.
  • Individual (non-business) membership is now available: $50 annually.


Cowboy Christmas – Friday, December 6, starting at Noon

  • Parade at dusk – floats and volunteers needed. Register your float or volunteer via the “2024 Cowboy Christmas” link.
  • A special “dog float” category: dress your dog in its best holiday collar, meet at the Brewery for staging.
  • Kids’ activities: face painting, crafts, pictures with Santa.
  • Live bluegrass music.
  • Heated Holiday Market tent – only one vendor space remains.


Member & Business Updates

  • SAPC – Cards, Carols and Cookies today (Nov 15) from 1-3 PM at Shawnee Community Center.
  • Chimney Doctors: stove & installation sale – 10% off for all; 25% off for Veterans.
  • Bailey Bounty – corrected dates: November 28–29. Every dollar spent at participating local businesses enters you in the drawing for a sizable gift basket (last year’s worth: several thousand dollars).
  • FAB: Developing a new instructional video on chainsaw safety.
  • Salvation Army: Seeking volunteer bell ringers for the holiday season.
  • Mountain Mama Goods (Kristen Bullock): Offering Thanksgiving dinner packages in various sizes. Order by phone: 559-579-7787 or purchase via website.
  • Debeeze Honey: Announcing special sales during Bailey Bounty.
  • Off the Rails Coffee: Donation station established for Peace Works. Peace Works is also auctioning an opportunity to attend The Masters in Augusta, Georgia.
  • Turkey Trot at Tomahawk Ranch – Saturday, November 22, 2025
  • 1K Kids Walk/Run (ages 11 & under): 9 :00 AM – 12 :00 PM
  • 5K Run/Walk: 9 :10 AM – 12 :00 PM
  • 10K Run/Walk: 9 :10 AM – 12 :00 PM
  • Virtual 5K Division: flexible timing – must register by Nov 21.
  • Craft Mountain Brewery: Offering discounted use of their downtown Bailey LED sign.


Non-profit & Institutional Presentations


Glen Isle Resort – Mary Ruth & Greg Vincent

Located in Bailey since 1895 (built 1895-1972). Nestled with 17 cabins, a Main Lodge and the historic Kiva building. The owners have donated more than $10,000 to local events and charities, and even hosted winners of The Price Is Right.


Lifebridge Food Pantry – John Obrecht

  • Thanksgiving Food & Donation Drive: $60 donation buys a full Thanksgiving meal for a family. Donations of frozen turkeys or other food items also accepted. Call John: 303-909-7534.
  • Coat Drive: Gently used coats can be dropped off outside Crow Hill Bible Church (container unlocked Sunday through Thursday).


Platte Canyon Fire Protection District – Ben Mulligan

  • Awarded the NDME State Grant twice, most recently for 2027-2028. Each grant equals approximately $850 K.
  • Year-round wildland deployment supports operations; has enabled the District to bill more than $5 M over time.
  • Response calls have increased fivefold in the last five years; this year alone at ~1,400 calls.
  • New equipment: a pump truck with enhanced capacity, a new ambulance, and a Type 3 engine.
  • Construction at Crow Hill Firehouse nearing completion: adds three equipment bays, allows living quarters expansion.
  • Awaiting a staffing grant to add one person per shift, which will improve response times for our community.


Platte Canyon Schools – Mike Schmidt

  • Community Band initiative: Come play your instrument. Contact Mike to join.
  • Key Club teaching digital classes for seniors.
  • New transportation building under construction; projected completion February.
